The Lower New plunges over massive boulders in the New River Gorge in a drop-pool format. The drops in elevation are where you’ll find the rapids. The pools are where you have a chance to catch your breath, look back upstream and say, “I can’t believe I just did that!”
In the Spring you can raft on BIG water as the New River explodes with churning, jaw-dropping rapids. In early Summer (June and early July), the Grand Canyon of the East is the quintessential rafting experience as you whoop it up on well-defined wave trains and enjoy a cool, refreshing float between rapids.

For those who have rafted the New River before and are looking for something more, you can take advantage of the High Adventure option. When you sign up for this, you ride in a nimble, smaller raft so you get up-close and personal with the New River. If you are coming in July or August, when the spring flows have receded, use the High Adventure option to spice up your whitewater rafting experience.
This is the wildest New River trip going, and it is sure to leave you ready to take on the world! This option requires payment for four seats. If there are only three of you, you may pay for the fourth slot to get that 3:1 guest to guide ratio!
Of course, you’ll have to paddle extra hard as well! Maximum 4 guests per raft.
