Spring and Summer Gauley Rafting Trips

It's like rafting a whole new river!

Raft the Gauley River in the sprin and summer with Wildwater. Too many people think you can only run the Gauley during Fall. Not so. We run the Upper and Lower Gauley in the spring and summer also. Find out what you are really made of when you run Upper Gauley rapids alone, in your own boat! Or take on the milder rapids of the Middle and Lower Gauley. These trips are beautiful and packed with adventure.

Difficulty Rating: CLASS I- IV+
Lunch: Yes

Season: Spring, Summer

The Upper Gauley is famous for the 22 days of whitewater in September and October. Pssst! We’ll let you in on a secret: You can paddle the same rapids at lower flows and experience a whole different style of West Virginia whitewater.
Paddle some of the rapids that make the Fall Upper Gauley a world-class whitewater run. During summer flows, these rapids are a whole different experience from the Fall releases.
Large rocks abound as you wind your way through sluices and cascade over drops. Also, you get to enjoy your experience in relative solitude. Daily water conditions determine which craft you will take down the Gauley River: From 14-foot, high-adventure rafts to smaller 3- to 5-person boats, right down to inflatable kayaks.
Experience the Gauley River as few have!

Saturday Rate: $149 Sunday-Friday: $124

Enjoy this Gauley River wilderness camping and paddling experience. As with our regular Summer Gauley Trips, we select the best stretch of the Gauley based on current water conditions to create the best overnight trip for you.
Your group will soak in the spectacular solitude of the Gauley River canyon on this self-contained adventure. Your meals are prepared over an open flame so you can enjoy a satisfying meal around the camp fire. You’ll appreciate the escape from the clamor of everyday life because the nights are quiet and the stars are bright.
Because river conditions can change in a few hours, it is possible that we may need to change plans while we’re on the river, adding an element of adventure. Your guides coordinate with Wildwater’s Basecamp via radio in case river conditions merit a change in the planned itinerary.
